Dominated by the glorious Matterhorn, Zermatt is a lively and sophisticated resort with skiing spread over three different areas one of which links to Cervinia in Italy. Zermatt boasts Europe?s highest tree line and provides glorious year round skiing on one of the largest glaciers in Europe, the Klein Matterhorn (3899m), easily reached by the new gondola. Long runs from the glacier include a 15km piste to resort but wherever you choose to ski, mountain huts offer everything from drinks to gourmet meals.

    World Snowboard Guide
WSG rates Zermatt as an intermediate carvers favourite. It is an impressive place with some major terrain for all levels and rider styles, even if the mountain layout is a bit haphazard. Freeriders on the lookout for open powder bowls and couloirs will be kept busy in a number of areas with a lot off advanced off-piste riding to be had. Freestylers are provided with an ever improving half-pipe and plenty of natural terrain.
